A comforting South African dessert of soft dumplings steamed in a sweet cinnamon syrup, best served warm or cold.

Combine water, sugar, margarine, cinnamon, and salt in a pot, place on the stove, and let it boil to make the syrup.
Sift the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt) together.
Rub the margarine into the dry ingredients.
Add the egg mixture and mix well to form a dough.
Spoon dumplings into the boiling syrup.
Once it starts boiling again, steam for 10 minutes without lifting the lid.
Remove from the stove and let stand covered for another 5 minutes.
Serve warm or cold.
